Recipients of The Louis & Katie Raynor Scholarship
CONGRATULATIONS!
CONGRATULATIONS!
The 25th Louis & Katie Raynor Scholarship winner is Olivia Williams, a graduating senior at Hobbton High School who will be attending Campbell University. Hobbton is a school in the Sampson County Schools district, which is very special to us since each of Louis and Katie's children also attended and graduated from Hobbton! Olivia's future goals are to gain two degrees in Exercise Science and become a physician who specializes in Sports Medicine. She has a strong belief in making her community a better place to live, and her volunteer work demonstrates this. We know that Olivia will continue to help others as she pursues her dreams!
Congratulations to Olivia Williams and her family on winning one of this year's scholarships!
The next 2024 Louis & Katie Raynor Scholarship winner is Ke'Milah Williams, a graduating senior at South Creek High School in Martin County Schools NC. Ke'Milah will be attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall! An interesting fact about Ke'Milah is that she organized a fundraiser in 2023 so that a mini library could be established at the town hall. In the future, she hopes to become a dermatologist who will make a difference in how acne and skin conditions impact patients' mental health. In addition, she would love to create her own skin care line and open a private practice in Martin County, where there are currently no practicing dermatologists. She would like to change the narrative that rural areas lack access to specialized physicians.
We are so happy to be part of such a bright future! Congratulations to Ke'Milah Williams and her family on winning one of this year's scholarships!
Our final 2024 Louis & Katie Raynor Scholarship winner is Sheyla Hernandez-Zelaya, who is graduating from Sampson Early College High School in the Sampson County Schools district in North Carolina. Sheyla will be attending Meredith College in the fall! Sheyla has participated in a vast array of volunteer and extracurricular experiences, like acting as a translator, paying visits to the elderly in nursing facilities, and organizing family workshops for Latinos and advocating for documentation in Spanish. As for her future endeavors, Sheyla writes, "My professional dream is to become a family lawyer by earning a bachelor's degree in political science and then going to law school... Being a person who is marginalized in my community, I am well aware of the difficulties and roadblocks that come with aiming for greatness." And greatness is just what Sheyla will achieve!
We are so proud of her past and future accomplishments! Congratulations to Sheyla Hernandez-Zelaya and her family on winning one of this year's scholarships!
